VOW Media is in search of an experienced program officer who can work under the leadership of the Executive Director.
The ideal candidate will be experienced in handling a wide range of tasks and will be able to work independently with little or no supervision. This person must be exceedingly well organized, a team leader, flexible and enjoy the challenges of supporting VOW Media’s work. The Program Officer is expected to develop and maintain a variety of relationships in the community, and a knowledge base of current trends, activities and changes within the community at-large.
MAIN TASKS
Building relationships with strategic partners for policy and program
- Identify and build relationships with development agencies, policy, and research organizations that are critical to VOW Media delivering its objectives and program
- Establish and maintain relationships with key contacts in strategic partner organizations
- Represent VOW Media at relevant networks, workshops, seminars and policy events
- Develop ideas and projects for formal collaboration with targeted development agencies, policy, and research organizations
Contract management and reporting
- Manage contracts with institutional funders
- Support the development of all of VOW Media’s programming, including servicing and supporting contracts
- Manage and coordinate scheduled reporting to meet institutional donor reporting requirements
- Work with Finance and External Communications staff to ensure financial information is up to date, and variances are identified
Learning, sustainability and impact
- Coordinate lesson learning from monitoring and evaluation of the VOW Media program portfolio and support sharing of best practice and policy insights
- Develop and manage specifically commissioned and funded monitoring and evaluation initiatives both qualitative and quantitative
- Coordinate overall program portfolio to ensure key performance indicators are met and program impact is in line with strategy
Supporting information and communications needs
- Work closely with communications team to share information about program portfolio, pipeline, specific projects and program impact
Requirements
The ideal candidate will be a feminist and passionate about women’s rights. S/he will be at least 5 years experienced in working around similar organizations. Sensitivity around sex work, gender, identity, violence, and LGBTQI rights is a must.
The candidate will have strong interpersonal and collaboration skills; proven ability to be flexible in a team-oriented approach with diverse groups of people. S/he will have strong written and oral communication skills and strong analytic and problem-solving skills. S/he will have a content expertise in media & feminism and be knowledgeable of program evaluation and communicating impact. The candidate must have excellent planning, organizational, multi-task and time management skills and a proven ability to efficiently and effectively handle multiple tasks at the same time.
