‘Displaced’ Youth Exchange

7-17 Jan 2014, Amsterdam

The youth exchange aims at providing young first or second-generation young migrant women (18-25 years old) living in the Netherlands, Romania, Greece and Spain with video and photography tools to allow them to create and tell their own stories, as well as control their own images of representation.

We want to provide a safe and creative space for young migrant women to celebrate their identity and belonging and share them with the world using multimedia.

The youth exchange will consist in photography and video training, energizers, creative games, team building and community building exercises, trips around Amsterdam and a lot of fun :)

No previous experience or knowledge required. But interest and willingness are absolutely needed! :) By the end of the youth exchange, the participants will have created a body of photography and a short film, with their team mates.

If you already have a photo camera, please bring it! If not, we have some.

Each country will bring five young girls and a youth leader. The foreign participants will be hosted in a hostel in Amsterdam, in shared rooms. The local participants will stay with their families. Breakfast will be served at the hostel, lunch will be arranged by the participants and prep team – Dutch-style (sandwiches and sometimes soup) and dinner will be served in different places every night. Bikes will be provided for the foreign participants (If you cannot cycle yet, we’ll teach you :D )

Food is provided. 70% of the travel costs are also covered (cheapest option, please), but the participants will pay the remaining 30%.
